Abstract:This dataset depicts the limit of Australia’s contiguous zone as proclaimed by the Seas and Submerged Lands (Limits of Contiguous Zone) Proclamation 1999. This proclamation declares a contiguous zone beyond and adjacent to the territorial sea with an outer limit of 24 nautical miles seaward from the territorial sea baseline, with the exception of the area around the Torres Strait in accordance with the Torres Strait Treaty between Australia and Papua New Guinea.
